Cake and Cookie Cake Product CareUpdated 8 months ago

Here's our best suggestions for preserving your cake or cookie for presesentation and storage:

  • On receipt of a cake please refrigerate as soon as possible.
  • Cakes should be refrigerated as long as possible before consumption. However, our cakes are best consumed at room temperature.
  • There is always a balance of refrigeration time and presentation time (getting the cake to room temperature).
  • Generally air-conditioned venues, out of direct sunlight, the cake can be displayed 90 minutes without risk of malformation of the cake.
  • The standard cake display time of 90 minutes is reduced by factors such as - time since last full hour of refrigeration, exposure to direct sunlight, warm non-airconditioned rooms, outdoors and humidity.
  • If your event is outside, consider freezing the cake for 1-3 hours to firm the icing as much as possible.
  • Direct sunlight may start to bring issues to the cake within 20 minutes of exposure.
  • Cakes can be stored in the freezer for 3 months. Leave it in the fridge for at least 24hours to thaw.

When holding/walking with the product:

  • Avoid tilting the product (don't swing any bag!).
  • Avoid resting the product on your body, the box may start to bend in and damage the product.
  • Avoid bumping the product into anything or dropping/placing on a surface harshly.
  • Avoid direct sunlight through the box window.
  • If a warm day or travelling far, consider placing cakes in the fridge before any extended transport. Cakes should always remain refrigerated till serving.

Here are suggestions to consider for vehicular transport of our products:

  • When in vehicle transport, place front passenger on the floor, or hold with cool air-conditioning on.
  • Do not store on a car seat if the box is tilting.
  • Avoid unconditioned areas like the boot.
  • Avoid fast deceleration or acceleration and going around corners quickly - the cupcakes feel your G forces!
  • Speed bumps, pot holes can also cause the product to be displaced.
  • Do not leave the product unattended in a car not airconditioned and/or in the sun - the product will melt.

When a cake is on display it is best placed in a cool (preferably air conditioned) dry room out of direct sunlight or any heat source. If the cake is to be eaten at outdoors, it should be refrigerated to the point of display and almost immediate consumption. In the scenario the cake can’t be refrigerated (in a park, boat, etc.), if you want an extended period of displaying the cake (out of sunlight) place the cake in the freezer for as long as possible before the event and keep observation on it maintaining its shape while on display. If it’s not looking its best, you know it’s time to serve immediately!

In the instance the cake can be refrigerated or will be consumed in a cool dry indoor space, use the following guide:

  • If consuming less than one hour after last refrigeration, it needs no refrigeration and can be displayed immediately.
  • If consuming more than one hour after last refrigeration, refrigerate till at least one hour before consumption.
